Break-ins Ravage Webster, New York Homes

police carAn Upstate, New York town known for a “life worth living” has suffered through a recent spike in home break-ins (Read article here). The thieves’ loot consists of items ranging from laptops, iPods and keys. Even more worrisome is the fact that thieves are entering the homes between 2am and 6am all while families are sleeping. The incidents, which have been piling up have occurred on Cherry Laurel Circle and Sandystone Circle in Webster, New York. This should be a reminder to homeowners and business proprietors of the importance of protecting their properties – and families.

The best way to protect your home, business and family from these villains is to install a high quality burglar alarm systems that can serve as a deterrent to potential thieves. A thief is more likely to skip over a home or business if he sees that it features a monitored alarm system on the property. That’s because it’s much easier to target a more vulnerable home or business. Burglars want to get in and get out and do not like the police!

How else can you be sure that your property doesn’t make for an appealing target? Here are  a few simple steps you can do to reduce the curb appeal of your home, office or workplace for burglars:

Lock your car doors, even if it’s parked in the garage. Thieves love the false sense of security that a garage can provide, especially if the keys in the car or on the wall just beside the door.

Shed some light on the subject. A dark home says “Rob Me!” to potential burglars. So keeping a few lights on the outside and inside your home at night, as well as installing motion sensor-activated floodlights outside, can go a long way toward eliminating the deepest dark shadows that  break-in.

If you have an alarm system, use it! It is there to make sure your home is safe when you are at home, at work and play. Even turn it on when you are home. Many alarms have a “Stay” feature!.

Advertise your video surveillance system. A picture is worth a 1000 words and iIf a thief thinks his face might show up on camera, he’ll often move on to the next place. Many homes are not only getting alarms but are also having cameras installed. The marriage of cameras with your alarm system makes your home impenetrable.
